13 Day Absolute Morocco Tour From Tangier

On the first day of your 13-day Absolute Morocco Tour, we will pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, also known as “the bride of the north.” The city is located in the northwest, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Spartel.

First, we will explore the beautiful city and visit the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. You’ll have free time for lunch.

After that, we head inland to Chefchaouen, passing through the city of Tetouan and the Rif Mountains. We’ll make several stops along the way to enjoy panoramic views.

Finally, we arrive in Chefchaouen, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel.

After breakfast, the 13-day tour continues with an exploration of Chefchaouen, the Blue City, also known as Achaoun, which means “horns” in Berber. The city is located in the Rif Mountains in northwest Morocco. It is famous for its buildings and alleyways painted in blue and white.

We will stroll through its charming old Medina, which features many beautiful authentic blue doors. You’ll have free time for lunch.

Finally, you can hike to the Spanish Mosque, located on a high hill, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire Blue City.

You’ll spend the night at the same hotel.

After breakfast, feel free to wander through the beautiful alleyways of the Blue City, Chefchaouen. Then, we will drive to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis.

The site is well preserved and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features many beautiful mosaics scattered throughout, along with impressive ancient pillars and archways.

After exploring the ruins, we will drive 30 km to visit one of Morocco’s imperial cities, Meknes, the capital of Sultan Ismail. There, we will visit Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal Stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum.

Then, we head to Fez for an overnight stay in a Riad.

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your accommodation to explore the city of Fez. This city is considered one of the imperial cities, as well as the cultural and religious center of Morocco.

We start the day by visiting the gate of the Royal Palace. Then, we explore the well-preserved medieval Medina, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, is the entrance to the old Medina.

You will enter the Medina with a local guide to visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Tanneries. Finally, we visit the Qarawiyyin Mosque and University – the oldest university in the world.

Afterwards, we leave the Medina to visit the Jewish quarter, known as “the Mellah.” Then, we drive to an ancient fortress for panoramic views of the medina and the city of Fes.

Finally, we’ll return to your Riad.

After breakfast, the 13-day Absolute Morocco tour continues south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, famous for its low temperatures, snow, and alpine-style architecture. It’s no wonder it is called the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

Next, we continue to the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them while wandering through the forest. Later, we head to Midelt, where you will have free time for lunch.

Then we drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views.

In the afternoon, we reach the Sahara Desert at Merzouga. Here, you will switch to camels to cross the sandy desert, with a stop to enjoy the sunset.

Afterward, we continue to the camp, which is a blend of traditional nomad tents and the luxury of a hotel. Here, you can enjoy Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a vast open sky full of stars.

After breakfast, we dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The area has many incredible sites, from sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil areas, to fabulous oases — ideal places for a variety of outdoor activities.

We start our journey in Merzouga by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, we visit the nomads in their handmade woven tents and learn about their lifestyle while drinking Berber tea.

Our next destination is the village of Khamlia, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its inhabitants originate from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. You will have free time for lunch at a restaurant.

Afterwards, we take a stroll through the palm grove, then drive a few kilometers to see the wild Merzouga Lake, also known as the Flamingo Lake.

Finally, we return to Merzouga for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.

After breakfast, we continue our trip to Kalaat M’Gouna to visit the Rose Valley. A Rose Festival is held annually in May, where locals offer rose-based products, from perfumes and rose water to oils and cosmetics.

We then drive through the palm groves of Skoura and visit the Kasbah of Amredhyle.

Next, we reach Ouarzazate, where we visit the film studios where many famous movies were shot, and also visit the Taourirt Kasbah.

Overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

After breakfast, we depart to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Moreover, the kasbah has appeared in many films, includingGladiator,Alexander,The Mummy, and TV series such asGame of Thrones.

Afterwards, we visit the Kasbah of Telouet. Then we continue to Marrakech by crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains.

There will be stops for lunch and opportunities to take photos at interesting spots along the way.

Finally, we arrive in Marrakech and conclude the day in a Riad.

After a warm breakfast, we will explore the highlights of Marrakech with a local guide. The city is considered one of Morocco’s imperial cities.

The visit includes: the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque. We’ll also stroll through the largest traditional souk in Morocco.

You’ll have free time for lunch near Jemaa El-Fna Square. Later, we’ll visit the Koutoubia Mosque — the largest in Marrakech — and the Majorelle Garden.

After the tour, we transfer you to your accommodation. Feel free to wander around Jemaa El-Fna Square on your own.

After breakfast, we drive west to the city of Essaouira. Along the way, we’ll make stops to see the famous goats climbing Argan trees and to enjoy panoramic views.

We arrive in Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador — one of Morocco’s most important coastal cities.

There, we visit the fishing port, the ancient ramparts with cannons, and the old Medina.

At the end, there will be an overnight stay in Essaouira.

On the 12th day of your 13-day Absolute Morocco tour, we depart from Essaouira and drive along the Atlantic coast, with stops for panoramic views.

We arrive in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic center, where we visit the Hassan II Mosque — the largest mosque in the country — and the Casablanca Corniche. You’ll have free time for lunch.

Afterwards, we continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco.

We’ll stay overnight in Rabat.

After breakfast, we explore Rabat, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and the current capital. It is located in the northwest of Morocco.

You will visit the city’s highlights, including the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya.

There will be free time for lunch.

Finally, we head north through Assilah to reach Tangier Airport.
