Day 5
After breakfast, we will drive through the Valley of the Roses in Kelaa Mgouna, where fragrant roses bloom along the hedgerows during April and May — a perfect time to buy a bouquet or rose-based products. We then continue to Ouarzazate, known for its film studios that have hosted many international productions, earning it the nickname “Hollywood of Morocco.”
Next, we follow the scenic route through the Ounila Valley. About 40 km before reaching the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we’ll visit the Kasbah of Telouet — once an important stop along the ancient caravan route from the Sahara across the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.
It was also the seat of the powerful El Glaoui family, who were granted political control of southern Morocco by King Moulay Hassan. At their peak, the Glaoui were nearly as influential as the Sultan himself. Though the palace is now crumbling, it is still open to visitors and partial restoration work began in 2010.
If our journey coincides with a Thursday, we will stop at a traditional souk in a village in the Atlas Mountains. Lunch will be enjoyed in the mountains before crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass once again on our way to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. This Will be the end of our services. End of the 5-day tour from Errachidia.
